June 2006Clan Wallace Tug o' War Team Wins Gold Under the able leadership of Team Captain Tim Young, Clan Wallace Convener for Kentucky and Tennessee, the Clan Wallace " Pullers of the Rope" Tug Team won its 11th Championship in a row at the 2006 Glasgow Highland Games on June 3, 2006 at Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Kentucky. In preparation this year for the pull, all of the Wallace Team Members had their faces painted with blue "Braveheart style" designs. The Wallaces pulled against a team from Clan MacDuff. The Clan Wallace Team is undefeated in this competition, which started 11 years ago.

This year to honor Margaret Eliott of Redheugh, Chief of Clan Elliot, the 2006 Chief of the Glasgow Highland Games 2006, the Challenge Pull was dedicated by Clan Wallace to her and the team pulled in her honor. After the win, Team Captain Tim Young and Clan Wallace Society President Captain John Wallace presented Chief Margaret with one of the winning Gold Medallions and a Clan Wallace Gold "Pullers" T-Shirt on the field. Captain John was present in Kentucky this year representing Clan Wallace, who was honored this Year as "Honored Clan" of the Glasgow Highland Games 2006.

Following the Clan Challenge Pull, the Wallace Team conducted its Annual Children's Tug-of-War event created and named in honor of Alice Wallace Young, mother of Tim and several other of the Wallace Family who migrate to the Glasgow Games each year. Mrs. Young passed away 2 years ago and because of her love for the children and active involvement in the Games, this event was dedicated to her memory. As many as 50 plus children participate in this event and are coached and trained by Mad Max MacDougal, the annual coordinator of the Highland Games Children's Scottish Activities. As usual the children out-pull the Wallace Team and are awarded Commemorative Medallions at an appropriate ceremony.
