This book is actually two articles printed in 1884 by the "Transactions of the Archaeological Society of Glasgow" and the "Glasgow Herald" respectively. The Wallace Family in America - cost $10.50
This book by James A. Phelps at 27 pages describes the first Wallace family in America as James Wallace, born about 1675 of Lanark, Scotland who came to America via the British Navy. He slipped overboard off in Long Island Sound and came ashore near Norwalk, Connecticut, and within a year married Mary Hyatt. Phelps describes the ten original Wallace families as defined by Savage and some of their children then lists the heads of the over two hundred and seventy five families at the taking of the first census in 1790. There is a discussion of the Woods-Wallace family connections from the biographer of Judge Caleb Wallace.
Note: The Society once published the Wallace-Woods book but the originals no longer exist.
The Book of Wallace, by Reverend Charles Rogers, originally published in 1889, republished by the Society, cost $60.00 to members, $75.00 to non-members.
This is a hardbound copy of the two volumes written by Dr. Charles Rogers and published by the Grampian Club in 1889. There were only 250 copies in the first printing and there are only 100 copies in this printing. The first volume deals with the genealogy of the early Wallace families in Scotland and particularly Sir William Wallace's family. The second volume deals with the life of Sir William Wallace. The Society chose to bind the two volumes as one to eliminate some of the printing and binding costs. There are about 730 pages in a beautiful binding.
