The Wallace Well by Wayne JonesCWSW Past-Director Wayne Jones of WV has written a very interesting history of "The Wallace Well." The Scots bard Blind Harry first mentioned the Wallace Well (spring) in his epic poem. William Wallace was captured at a farmhouse just a few yards from the well 706 years ago, on August 5, 1305. The Clan Wallace Society was instrumental in getting The Wallace Well historic site restored. To see the before & after pictures of the site. Click the link.

Philadelphia Scottish Immigrant Monument - UpdateAs reported in the Summer Guardian, the Clan Wallace Society - Worldwide (CWS) made a donation in the amount of $2000 to the St. Andrews Society of Philadelphia, PA to assist them in developing and building a monument to memorialize the difficult work, hardships, courage, and contributions made by Scottish immigrants who came to America and became farmers, frontiersmen, architects, bankers, soldiers, and statesmen. As reported, the dedication of the Philadelphia Scottish Immigrant Monument was originally scheduled on November 30, 2010, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Since the project is still in progress at that time, this delay was appropriate. The new date for the dedication was to be November 30, 2011.
The dedication was again been rescheduled to Saturday, October 8, 2011. The gathering commenced at the Monument site at Front Street and Chestnut Street (a little south of Chestnut Street in the park area built over and above the I-95 freeway).
Your Web Master, Jim "Bowie" Wallace of Bowie, MD, CWS Convener Ralph Wallace of Reston, VA and CWS Member David Haywood of Glen Mills, PA attended the dedication. See the Pennsylvania Photo Album for pictures taken at the dedication.
See the MAP of Mid-Town Philadelphia including Independence Mall, location of the Scottish Immigrant Memorial.
